Who we are

Crescendo Law is a business law firm serving small and medium-sized businesses, start-ups, scale-ups and financial investors in Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario.

Our purpose is to act as a trusted advisor to our clients. We accomplish this by gaining a deep understanding of our clients' business goals and working together collaboratively to achieve these goals. We aim to build long-lasting relationships with our clients and provide them with valuable counsel.

David Kim, JD, CFA

David is the founder of Crescendo Law and a lawyer who is called to the Bar of Ontario and admitted as a licensee to the Law Society of Ontario.

David takes great satisfaction in providing sound legal advice to his clients and helping each of them achieve their business goals.

A large part of David's legal practice involves working with start-up and scale-up companies on all of their corporate and commercial law needs and, in particular, advising founders on financing transactions. As part of his involvement in the start-up ecosystem, David acts as a Mentor at The Forge McMaster, which is a business incubator program serving innovative start-ups in the Hamilton region and McMaster University.

Prior to founding Crescendo Law, David was a corporate and commercial lawyer in the Toronto office of Gowling WLG, one of Canada’s largest law firms. During his tenure there, his practice focused on private equity, venture capital and corporate transactions.

David graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Queen’s University where he received course prizes for achieving the highest standing in both Advanced Securities and International Taxation. David also obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen’s University, graduating with First Class Honours.
